The very notion of getting a computer virus pushed us into looking for some anti-virus software. Ok, so maybe we just wanted to take a look at the new and improved Kaspersky 7.0 anti-virus software. Brand-new features aside, we really wanted to give you the 4-11 on its pricing, what to expect from customer support and how easy it is to use. See what we ran into below.

Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:

Optimal speeds - If this anti-virus software was scanning and noticed a depletion of system resources, it would pause the scan until more resources were available. This meant we could run their anti-virus software without having to deal with dragging system speeds.

Kaspersky User Interface and Product Application:

The Kaspersky anti-virus software download and installation process was simple and straightforward, if not a bit time consuming. It took about half an hour from the beginning of the download to the completion of the installation.

Once our Kaspersky anti-virus software was installed, it worked hard to impress us. First we have to mention that Kaspersky did a good job of updating it's user interface. It has a look and feel that is more user friendly than ever, and even novice computer users will be able to master the product with little trouble.

In addition to the improved interface, we also appreciated the real-time scanning (meaning sneaky little email worms and HTML viruses couldn't get through) and the fact that we noticed absolutely no drag on our system resources was a huge plus. In fact, the new and improved version of Kaspersky anti-virus software is one of the only anti-virus products we've run into that didn't affect our system's performance.

Of course, we have to mention the hourly automatic updates. Yes, you read that right – hourly, not daily. Anti-virus software protection doesn't get much more up-to-the-minute than that!

For those of you who like the new and improved 7.0 version of Kaspersky, you'll also like the fact that Kaspersky now offers a mobile anti-virus solution. For those who need anti-virus software protection for their smart phones, Kaspersky Anti-Virus mobile is a great solution.

Kaspersky offers great customer service. You can contact Kaspersky via email or toll-free phone. When we called Kaspersky, a rep picked up in less than 5 minutes (but we did call mid-day, which might have meant peak call times and a longer-than-usual wait). The Kaspersky support employee was very cordial, answering our questions thoroughly and addressing all of our concerns in just a few short minutes.

Kaspersky is also on the ball when it comes to email support. We received a response to our email inquiry within 24 hours of submitting it. The email was detailed and didn't just answer our question, but also pointed out where to find further resources that might be of help to us. We would have liked to see a live chat option, as this is a convenient method of customer support.

Upside:

Doesn't slow down system speeds, hourly updates, live scanning.

Downside:

The price is on the high side. No live support chat.
