Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:

Our favorite feature of the LinkShare website was the Developer Contest section, which awards a number of online publishers for their innovative use of advertising technology. Awards include everything from International Advertiser of the Year to Best Integrated Multi-Channel Marketer. It's a great way for the company to connect with the affiliate network community.

The LinkShare Experience:

LinkShare immediately sets itself above the competition by displaying an attractive and entertaining design on the main page. While the site probably isn't user friendly to those who don't know much about the world of affiliate marketing, those in the know will appreciate the "down to business" approach the site offers.

Signing up for LinkShare is free. Simply fill out a three-step form, have the company approve your application and get started with advertising your affiliate links. Then you can begin promoting the products and services of companies like Macy's, iTunes, McAfee and more. The only thing we didn't like is that you can't really see what companies you can promote or what the commissions are until after you have signed up for a publisher account.

We do like that LinkShare hosts a number of summits and symposiums in order to help its customers gather, network, and learn more about the affiliate marketing industry. We also like that LinkShare provides plenty of resources and information for online advertising and seems to care about the success of its advertisers and publishers.

All that being said, we probably wouldn't suggest LinkShare as someone's first affiliate encounter. It's geared more towards those already involved in the affiliate marketing arena. If, however, you have already been working with other affiliate networks and are looking to expand your affiliate portfolio, LinkShare could be a great way to do it.

LinkShare Pricing:

Becoming a LinkShare affiliate is free. Commissions very depending on the advertiser being promoted. The site offers no commission info until you are a registered affiliate.

LinkShare Customer Service:

We were a bit disappointed that LinkShare does not provide a dedicated help section or a more extensive list of Frequently Asked Questions on its website. It does have a Contact Us section with e-mail support forms and a toll-free phone number, but phone support was geared towards advertisers, not publishers, and email support didn't give us a conclusive answer to our questions.

Upside:

Summits and symposiums, developer contests, $1 minimum payment threshold.

Downside:

Lack of support for affiliates.

Linkshare, another good solution for affiliate marketers

Linkshare is a huge network of services buyers and providers, It has a lot of home based freelancers providing services to buyers aswell as big companies providing complete solutions to its clients. Core experties of Linkshare network are SEM (Search) and Affiliate marketing. Online Marketing and Lead Generations for sales of different products for different clients and Lead Generations for Different Companies is another area where Linkshare has no match. Working as an affiliate of Linkshare is a good idea if you want to take things proffessionaly, Linkshare provides realtime tracking of activites of its affiliates and results to its affiliates, to sum up it, I would like to say that Linkshare is a good plateform to start with if you are looking to give a good shape to your online business.
